Dr. Havens is an Associate Professor and Vice Chair of the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the Chief of Service at the Bellevue Hospital Center. Dr. Havens has been in practice of psychiatry since 1989, providing psychotherapy and psychopharmacology to children, adolescents and adults. She has special expertise in the treatment of complex adolescents and young people dealing with grief and family disruption.

Dr. Havens completed her medical education at Tufts University School of Medicine, her residency in Adult Psychiatry at the Payne Whitney Clinic/Cornell Medical Center, her fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Columbia University and a NIMH Research Fellowship at the HIV Center for Clinical and Behavioral Studies. Prior to joining the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at NYU, Dr. Havens was the Deputy Director and Director of Clinical and Community Services in the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Columbia University and the Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital of New York Presbyterian.
